DM wins Gitex Award for best Cloud Computing Solutions

The information technology department of Dubai Municipality won the Gitex Award 2014 in the category of best government application of Cloud Computing Solutions in the United Arab Emirates.
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality has received the award in his office from Eng. Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaffin, director IT department and said that the civic body is proud to be the first government department in the UAE to receive this award and I heartily appreciate the IT department and its employees for bringing this honour to Dubai Municipality.
‘The award came recognizing the initiative of DM to implement the Cloud Printing System for the entire municipality offices which in turn helped reduce 40% of operational cost and diminish the carbon emission by 30% saving the environment and providing a better work atmosphere. It also contributed to reduce the number of requests for IT support for trouble shooting related to printing , scanning and photocopying,’ Lootah said.
‘The project has been applied in line with standards of quality and sustainability that helps recycle the papers and inks. It gives high security for the information and documents as well as contributes to identifying the authority of printing for each employee. Using the system, any employee can use any printer anywhere in DM offices. All printing, scanning and copying jobs can be monitored by the IT department and take necessary actions if the printer misused,’ he added.
