Children’s City organizes Science Film Festival 2014

The Children’s City, in cooperation with the SciFest and with support of Daimler Mercedes organizes the Science Film Festival 2014 in Children’s City, Dubai Creek Park from 29 October to 4 November 2014.
“The move is aimed at educating the new generation about the latest developments in the scientific world and motivate them to involve in researches and inventions in line with the vision of Children City,” said Naila Al Mansoori , head of Children’s’ city.
“The Science Film Festival, initiated by the Goethe-Institute in 2005, is a celebration of science communication. Targeting a young audience with excitingly well-designed science content, the Science Film Festival has grown considerably, meanwhile becoming the largest event of its kind worldwide. With this year’s theme “Future Technologies” the audience is invited to explore the future and explore technologies that will shape tomorrow’s world,” Al Mansoori said.
“The Science Film Festival in Dubai presents an international selection of 19 films dedicated to a wide range of important scientific questions. All chosen films are translated and synchronized into Arabic and/or English and screened in the premises of the Children’s City”, she said.
“The films are complemented with experiments, hands on activities and games to explain and re-enact the scientific correlations. Special guest for the opening are the presenters Kåre and Emil of the Danish TV-production for children and teenagers “The Nerd Academy”.
“They will present a live show on energy with exciting experiments and breathtaking effects. With their energy boost the Science Film Festival will be launched in Dubai on 29 October 2014”.
During the family day on Friday, 31 October 2014, a Robot Demonstration will be presented by Dr. Frank Dittmann from the Deutsches Museum (German Museum) in Munich, will invite visitors to witness what robots can do and how they could help us in our every-day life.
The Opening Ceremony of the Science Film Festival would be at the Children’s City, Creek Park (Gate 1) at 10:00 am. – Programs are organized daily from 29 October to 4 November – from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm and in the evening from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. On Friday the program is presented from 4:30 pm onwards.
The Science Film Festival is open to school classes and individuals alike. Registration is necessary for school classes and can be arranged through the Children’s City www.childrencity.ae and firstname.lastname@example.org :
