DM Seismological LAN spots mild tremble at northeast of Musandam region

The Seismological LAN at Dubai Municipality, the first network to monitor earthquakes in the UAE, spotted a light earthquake on Sunday at 5.18 pm, northeast of Musandam at a 4.9 degree strength on the Richter scale, 192 km away from Dubai and 319 km from Abu Dhabi. No one reported feeling a tremor from anywhere in the UAE.
Eng. Iman Al Khatibi, head of the geodetic and marine survey section said that the municipality has developed seismic monitoring system to issue an immediate report on seismic intensity map and its values in all the cities of the UAE with the aim at getting quick response and determining the effect of the tremor
This development came to meet the requirements of the responsible authorities and the public to facilitate the access of information, and to educate residents of the emirate in line with Dubai Municipality’s vision for public safety in the Emirate.
