Dubai Municipality’s waste management department launched an initiative for recycling during the opening of the Umm Suqeim Recycling Centre.
The Umm Suqeim centre was built as part of the My City, My Environment project and it covers various locations such as Umm Suqeim one, two and three, Al Manara and Um Al Sheif.
Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management, said the project aims at providing environmental solutions for society.
Through My City, My Environment, recycling bins have been made available in different areas of the city to encourage the public to recycle. Saifaie added that such initiatives are launched to encourage the public to get into the habit of recycling. He said that such responsible behavior will help develop a more environmentally sustainable city.
Dubai Municipality’s waste management department will continue to spread awareness and constantly work towards improving the environment. Currently, the recycling containers contain separate bins for plastics, metals, paper and cardboard.
