Dubai Municipality, DED sign MoU

Dubai Municipality has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Economic Development Department (DED) in the field of geospatial infrastructure for the emirate.

The MoU comes out of the keenness of the two parties to lay the foundations for joint strategic cooperation between them, and to benefit from the services they provide in a way that ensures the achievement of organizational integration, and the development and strengthening of cooperative relations in accordance with a corporate framework consistent with the strategic plans in promoting optimal use of the geospatial system in the Emirate of Dubai.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality said: “We are always keen on enriching the geospatial infrastructure in the emirate, in support of the smart trend that Dubai and the world is witnessing in various fields in general and in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in particular.”

“It also indicates towards our special care in building bridges of cooperation with various entities in order to realize the achievements and goals that enhance the emirate’s position in this field,” he said.

His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED said: “We, at DED, seek to enhance the smart infrastructure of the emirate, within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the Dubai government to a fully smart model.”

He said the MoU with Dubai Municipality will enhance joint cooperation aimed at developing the geospatial infrastructure of the Emirate, which in turn, supports the knowledge economy and facilitates business procedures.

The MoU aims to increase cooperation between the two parties in the field of developing and implementing GeoDubai infrastructure, and exchanging expertise, information and available resources, in order to work on preparing a comprehensive, unified and updated baseline map for Dubai, to use it as an effective tool for planning, designing and managing development projects.
