Dubai Municipality issued the Dubai Green Building Regulations and Specifications in 2010 and adopted them in the first phase as a mandatory condition for new government buildings. In 2016, the Regulations and Specifications were re-issued under the name AL SA’FAT – Green Building Rating System in Dubai.
Al Sa’fat is a green building system that includes a set of mandatory requirements for all buildings to obtain the Silver Sa’fa, and a set of optional requirements to achieve the Golden or Platinum Sa’fa.
Al Sa’fat system enhances building users safety and ensures a more sustainable environment for future generations. It also encourages innovation to achieve integration between green systems and technologies in building design, which in turn is reflected in improving performance, rationalizing energy consumptionand increasing the efficiency of electromechanical systems and thus reducing the carbon footprint.
