Dubai Municipality provides Open Data with the highest levels of accuracy and transparency for visitors to Dubai Municipality Smart Portal, targeting human development and encouragement of public participation and raising the level of awareness and happiness in the community to achieve the ultimate goal of a smart city.
The Datasets are available on Dubai Pulse in compliance with Law (26) of 2015 Regulating Data Dissemination and Exchange in the Emirate of Dubai and Law (2) of 2016 Establishing the Dubai Data Establishment

Open Data
for Makani
The open data service of the MAKANI smart Geo-tagging system was set in place in response to Dubai Smart Government’s strategic objectives. Through the Department of the Geographical Information Systems Centre, we provide a reliable database that can be used by various governmental, private and individual sectors.
Through MAKANI, these data make use of contributions of all concerned entities in achieving these objectives, especially with Dubai being the first city in the world to use numbers to identify and locate building entrances.
Makani Open Data:
Dubai Municipality is the official source for broadcasting and circulating MAKANI data. These free data are available to everyone and can be used, shared and distributed, provided that the Acceptable Usage Policies are followed and that our liability responsibility in this regard has been reviewed. The use of this data is considered legal as long as the below-mentioned policies and regulations of the government and the municipality are adhered to. Users should be aware of the following:
- You can use MAKANI data as an geo-tagging system without any restrictions in applications, systems, locations and services
- You can use the application for profit purposes provided that it effectively serves the public interest of the city of Dubai or UAE. It is not allowed, however, to sell MAKANI data to anyone or any entity.
Dubai Municipality has the right to amend the content of “MAKANI” Open Data at any time, as part of improving the service. You are notified of any changes or updates to the data and service periodically through our website.
Dubai Municipality’s Liability:
We always try to provide the most accurate and transparent data and information. However, we are not liable for some cases. We do not:
- Guarantee that the data will not be temporarily interrupted due to a malfunction or having inaccuracies or errors
- Assume, under any circumstance, liability for any damage that may result from the use of the application directly or indirectly, such as misuse or wrong use of data, changed or altered data or any other related damage caused by or related to its use, even if we were notified of the possibility of such damage or loss, including, but not limited to:
- Inability to use MAKANI Open Data
- Inaccurate Open Data content
- Inability to complete a procedure or perform a task based on this data.
Open Data Usage Policy:
The open data service imposes a set of specific controls and policies that must be followed, most notably:
- The user is fully liable for the use, reuse or sharing of the data published on our website
- Reusing this data should not result in creating errors related to the content, source and date of the data
- Altering the content or source of this data is prohibited
- Using this data for political purposes or to support any illegal or criminal activity is prohibited. It is also prohibited to use this data for racist or discriminatory comments, for ones that lead to incitement or reflect negatively on the concepts of equality, or for ones that go against the customs, traditions and culture of UAE.
- When using this data in documents, websites, applications, etc., you should always mention its source, which is Dubai Municipality.
