the city’s urban development, public services, and environmental
sustainability—pioneering excellence for over six decades.

Responsibilities

Dubai Municipality undertakes a range of strategic and dynamic responsibilities, guided by the impact pillars that shape its vision and inform its city-building initiatives. These responsibilities span all aspects of life in Dubai, ensuring a high quality of life and well-being for all.

  1. Urban planning and related legislation.
  2. Organizing and managing survey work and the spatial digital twin in the Emirate.
  3. Regulation and control of the building and construction sector.
  4. Establishing, managing, and operating public parks and recreational facilities.
  5. Developing, managing, and operating public beaches, coastal projects, and water canal projects.
  6. Developing and establishing architectural heritage preservation projects in historical areas.
  7. Beautifying the city and expanding green spaces.
  8. Developing, managing, and constructing public and government projects as assigned.
  9. Developing, managing, and operating markets and abattoirs affiliated with the Department.
  10. Ensuring the safety of food and consumer products, and supervising related activities in the Emirate.
  11. Regulating and supervising activities related to public and occupational safety in the Emirate.
  12. Regulating and supervising activities related to public health in the Emirate.
  13. Developing and managing an integrated system for labor cities in the Emirate.
  14. Developing and managing an integrated animal health system in the Emirate.
  15. Assessing product conformity, conducting tests and studies, and developing standards and specifications.
  16. Establishing, developing, and managing sewage treatment networks and plants.
  17. Establishing, developing, and managing recycled water networks.
  18. Establishing, developing, and managing rainwater and surface water drainage networks.
  19. Integrated waste management, including collection, transportation, and safe disposal.
  20. Establishing, developing, and managing waste recycling and treatment plants.
