Rumours about Contamination of Quaker oats products with Salmonella bacteria

With reference to the inquiry received via the live broadcast channel regarding the news spread on social media about the contamination of (Quaker) oats products with salmonella bacteria, the withdrawal of these products from American markets, and the authenticity of the presence of these products in local markets.

The following is the Food Safety Department’s response to this inquiry:

  • The company importing Quaker products was contacted and confirmed in an official letter the following: –

All Quaker products, owned by the PepsiCo group and distributed in the country, are safe for human consumption and comply with food safety and quality standards. The oat products that were recalled are products that were present in the markets of the United States of America, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan only, and the recall was as a precautionary measure in case they were contaminated with salmonella bacteria, and the recall of the products was limited exclusively to these countries only.

  • The Food Safety Department in Dubai Municipality confirms that all Quaker oat products traded in local markets are free of any contamination with Salmonella bacteria and are suitable for human consumption.
  • It also confirms the safety of products traded in local markets and their compliance with the technical regulations and approved specifications, as the Food Safety Department monitors all food products, including conducting the required laboratory tests.
