Dubai Municipality wins green design award

Dubai Municipality won first place in the International Architecture Award in the Green Good Design category through the project of the car parking building in Al Garhoud, which was built on an area of 7,539 square meters, and the building consists of a ground floor and five Additional floors, and the building is distinguished by its strategic location as it is located near a group of important government facilities such as the Personal Status Court, the Roads and Transport Authority building in Al Garhoud and the Dubai Municipality building in Al Garhoud, in addition to a group of neighboring schools.
The building was designed to be the first environmentally friendly parking building, using environmentally friendly means in generating the building’s energy (Zero Energy Building), where the roof of the building was used as covered car parking using solar panels connected to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority network, and the capacity of the solar energy system in the building is Al Garhoud has 500 kilowatts of solar panels, totaling 1,530 solar panels, covering an area of 2,494 square metres. The carbon footprint of the building is equivalent to the rationalization of the production of 143.7 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
It should be noted that the award is organized by the European Center for Architectural Design and Urban Studies and the Chicago Complex represented by the Museum of Architecture and Design. The Green Design Award lists the most important global examples of sustainable design, and works to develop an awareness program about international companies and institutions that perform the best environmental and sustainable designs.
