About the Museum
The Dubai Municipality Museum is one of Dubai's heritage sites. It has significant historical value since it documents the Dubai Municipality's foundation, growth, development, and achievements. The building itself is a landmark with a privileged location at the centre of the old Deira Market next to the Creek.
Dubai Municipality Museum was established in 1957. At the time, it consisted of a ground floor which included a number of trade shops. Later on, an upper floor was added and was the designated housing for traders. It is known as “wakalah” or “Khan”. The offices of the Dubai Municipality were moved to this building that same year and it remained as Municipality headquarters until 1964. Dubai Municipality administration then moved to a new building on Al Maktoum Road.
In 1999, the Architectural Heritage and Antiquities Department in Dubai Municipality restored the building and transformed it into a museum showcasing the Municipality's history. It was officially inaugurated in 2006.

- Publications and documents narrating the history of Dubai Municipality's establishment, the names of Director Generals who have run the Municipality and the duration of their mandate
- Photographs of Dubai Municipality officials' meetings and overseas conventions
- A presentation that documents Dubai Municipality's areas of specialty and the state of its administrative development
- An exciting, state-of-the-art documentary recounting the history of the Dubai Municipality
- Paintings summarizing the public projects of Dubai Municipality and its various services and achievements
- Documentation of Local Orders and organizational Administrative Resolutions.
