The Green Lungs of Dubai
Dubai’s extensive green spaces, spanning 13 million square metres, are an indispensable feature of the city’s urban environment. These lush areas, often referred to as the green lungs of Dubai, play a crucial role in the Municipality’s ongoing support of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to position Dubai as the best city to live in the world.
In 2023, the Municipality planted over 185,000 trees and increased the green areas of Dubai by over 230 hectares. This achievement puts us well on the way to our commitment to double the green areas in Dubai by 2030. Dubai Municipality’s Warsan Nursery grows over 50 million plants and trees from seed and cuttings which are used to beautify Dubai.
Greening the road intersections as well as landscaping the over 200 Dubai Parks is undertaken by the passionate team in the agriculture department who strive to make Dubai more beautiful every day.
