The Dubai Emirate consists of the mostly flat Dubai main Area, of approximately 80×80 km extent, and 15×20 km mountainous Hatta enclave. The Geodesy section of Dubai Municipality is responsible for the Geodetic survey of Dubai Emirate.
In 1990s, Dubai Municipality contracted with the institute of applied geodesy (IFAG) to establish a precise absolute coordinate system for the Emirate of Dubai. The realization of the internationally required coordinate frame called WGS84, and the international Terrestrial Reference System ITRS, was made via the connection of 4 selected main sites of the Dubai national GPS network to the closest IGS Permanents tracking sites.
Based on the primary Network and using DLTM system, the first order – Network composed of 76 control points are observed to cover all Dubai with high accuracy. Then, more than 18000 of the control points –well distributed- are observed to serve all survey tasks and projects in the Emirate.
In 2003, Geodesy & Hydrographic Survey Section, Survey Department DM has now implemented the latest technology for professionals engaged in the fields of Surveying and Construction Engineering “Dubai Virtual Reference System” (DVRS).;Today, we proud to provide more than 13 services -on line- to our valuable clients via our web site.
