About His Excellency Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah:

His Excellency Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah was appointed Director General of Dubai Municipality on January 7, 2009, when he was promoted by order of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, after he was Acting Director General since February 2, 2006.

Lootah graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Arizona in the United States of America in 1980. In the same year, he began his career with the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, where he worked for 5 years.

In 1985, His Excellency Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah joined Dubai Municipality and was assigned the duties of Assistant Head of Department. He was later promoted to the position of Director of Drainage Projects Department, then Assistant Director General of the Municipality’s Environmental and Public Health Affairs, where he supervised the departments of Public Health Services, Environment, Public Parks and Recreational Facilities, Horticulture and Irrigation and Sewage Projects.

In 2004, His Excellency was appointed Assistant Director General for Planning and Building Affairs, where he supervised the departments of Executive Planning, Survey, Buildings, Government Housing, Geographical Information Systems Centre and Statistics Centre.

On December 22, 2005, Lootah held the position of Deputy Director General of Dubai Municipality. He chaired many committees in the Municipality, such as the Technical Committee, the Strategic Plan Committee, the E-Government Committee, the Personnel Affairs Committee and organizational committees for a number of conferences organized by Dubai Municipality.

His Excellency Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah contributed in one way or other to Dubai Municipality in obtaining some 30 local, regional and international awards. He was also instrumental in establishing the Society of Engineers in UAE. He then chaired its board of directors during 1992-1996.

The Director General of Dubai Municipality, assumes his role with the help and support of the heads of the 6 sectors consisting of ​34 departments. Five of these departments report directly to the Director General to provide administrative support.
