UAE Food Bank
In compliance with the government’s directives regarding food security and achieving sustainable development goals, Dubai Municipality has launched the Food Bank Initiative and supervises its work operations, thus providing redundant foods and distributing them to the social groups unable to purchase them.
In this context, Dubai Municipality has taken a leading role in concluding agreements between the major food establishments in the Emirate to deliver consumption-suitable food surplus to charities rather than destroying it. This has also contributed to reducing the country’s carbon footprint and to achieving global goals. The initiative is supervised by a specialized team that works to ensure the quality and safety of donated foods, and that food safety and quality procedures are followed, while focusing on proper storage and transportation.
